Update June 13, 2016

ELA--Our last Spelling Test will be Thursday this week.  The students will continue to work on capitalization, good sentences using 5 words, story parts and adjectives.  We have been working on cursive writing and students will be presenting two of the stories that they have written this year, to the class.

Update May 15, 2016

Peg and the Yeti--the students enjoyed the MTYP play.  We read the book and made some comparisons between the book and the play.

Mother's Day--The students were very excited to make their gifts for Mom.

ELA--Home Reading Logs are due each Monday.  Spelling Test will be Thursday this week.  The students will continue to work on capitalization, good sentences using 5 words, story parts and adjectives.

Math--Grade 2--Geometry
Math--Grade 3--2D and 3D Objects--Faces, Edges and Vertices

French--We continue to practice the days of the week, numbers 1-69 the months of the year, seasons and colors.

Update April 3, 2016

Country Week--The students enjoyed visiting all of the stations to learn different aspects of Portugal--History/Geography, Food, Dance, Sports, Music, Sardine Festival, and Art.  Both students and staff learned many things over the week.

Religion--Our Lent and Easter festivities were very enlightening to all of the students.  For Palm Sunday we celebrated by a Palm Parade being lead by a donkey to chapel.  Chapel before Good Friday began with a procession following the cross.  Our Journey with Jesus will be begin again in April with a new item in the backpack.

February is I Love to Read Month!!!

Forest of Reading:
Gr. 2-3--Silver Birch Express- Ms. Meilleur on Tuesdays at lunch recess
Intramurals:  Tuesdays – Grade 3, Thursdays – Grade 2

ELA--Home Reading Logs are due each Monday.  Spelling Tests are on Friday.  The students have been working on various short lessons on classifying, organizing, directions nouns and capitalization.  They will continue to work on capitalization, good sentences using 5 words, and adjectives.

Math--Grade 2--Addition and Subtraction to 100
Math--Grade 3--Adding and subtracting with relational facts.

French--We continue to practice the days of the week, numbers 1-30 the months of the year and seasons.

Social Studies--We are discussing basic human rights and the rights of others.

February is I Love to Read Month!!!

We have the following dress-up days throughout the month to celebrate:
February 3 – Wear Words February 10 – Valentine’s Colour & Theme
February 17 – Dress as a Voyageur
February 24 – Dress as a Storybook Character

Forest of Reading has begun:
Gr. 2-3     Silver Birch Express- Ms. Meilleur on Tuesdays at lunch recess
Intramurals have begun and the students are excitedly heading to the gym during morning and afternoon recesses. 
Tuesdays – Grade 3
Thursdays – Grade 2

ELA--Home Reading Logs are due each Monday.  Spelling Tests are on Friday.  The students worked on a Winter Break Journal writing piece.  We talked about resolutions for the new year.  They will continue to work on capitalization, good sentences using 5 words, and adjectives.

Math--Grade 2--review of subtraction with 2 digits and no re-grouping.
Math--Grade 3--review of money and problem solving.

French--We continue to practice the days of the week and the months of the year.

Science--We are reviewing our unit through looking at Buildings and Structures in our world and using the terms we have learned to discuss these structures.

Update December 15, 2015

ELA--Home Reading Logs are due each Monday.  The students have been working on writing stories and their journal.  We have done some extra work on capitalization and talked about nouns.

Math--Grade 2--will complete Unit 3:  Addition and Subtraction to 18.
Math--Grade 3--will complete Unit 2:  Numbers to 1000 including place value.

French--We continue to practice the days of the week and are beginning the months of the year.

Science--We continue to complete experiments to test stability and strength of structures as well as describing materials, joints, frames, etc.
